St. Louis gooey butter cake
Oh, this post brings back so many memories!!! I grew up on this amazing dessert. My little sister and I referred to it as “Ooey Booey” cake —still do :), and still request it for our birthdays or special occasions when home. It was my mother’s secret weapon for dinner parties. It is to die for.
Side note: My mother has informed me that her recipe is called South St. Louis Ooey Gooey Buttercake and it is made with yellow cake mix and cream cheese, not a yeast recipe and corn syrup. One may have come from the other, just different variations.
